NBC, which scaled back the ratings guarantees it made to Olympics advertisers, is enjoying unexpectedly high ratings for The Games, the New York Times says. The event has drawn an average audience of about 30 million a night on NBC, millions more NBC Universal’s cable-TV channels, and 30 million visitors to NBC’s Olympics Web site. The ratings put some wind in the sales at NBC, which has struggled to improve its prime-time ratings in recent years.
