Coca-Cola, General Electric and Visa have dominated the Olympic Games in terms advertising effectiveness, the Wall Street Journal reports, citing research from Nielsen’s IAG. Spots that went for an emotional hook were best remembered and most liked, putting Coca-Cola’s “Bird’s Nest” ad at the top of the heap. Media buyers say the price tag for 30 seconds worth of ad time during the prime-time broadcast reached $750,000, though purchases of $5 million or more brought the cost per ad down, the Journal says.
