News Networks Look to Facebook

ABC News, CNN, and NBC’s MSNBC.com are retooling their presence on Facebook in an attempt to attract more of social network’s young users, Broadcasting & Cable reports. ABC News and Facebook have removed the U.S. Politics application they partnered on last year to replace it with a larger project in the coming weeks, the newspaper says. The networks’ fan pages on Facebook have attracted a very small percentage of the site’s more than 83 million users, but the minimal cost of maintaining a page and the possibility of luring a youthful demographic to the network’s coverage makes Facebook an outlet network executives can’t ignore, the newspaper notes.
