Isis, a 22-year-old contestant on the new season of “America’s Next Top Model” was born physically a male, but now identifies herself as a woman, according to US Weekly. The inclusion of a transgender contestant was hailed by GLAAD as an “unprecedented opportunity for a community that is underrepresented on television,” the magazine says.

Wow! I expected transgender people to show up in many areas of TV nowadays, but I never expected this for Top Model. The fact that a transgender woman can be just as beautiful as one born a woman is a fact that many people ignore, and it is great that a mainstream show like this is willing to showcase her as just another of the women. Bravo.
