Reveille and Geffen Records are teaming up with Sony Pictures TV for a modern update of the iconic 1970s TV series “The Partridge Family,” Daily Variety reports. Jeff Rake of “Cashmere Mafia” has been tapped to write the project, which is being shopped around the networks with a deal close to being finalized. Sony TV holds the rights to the original format. People familiar with the project say it will go for a tongue-in-cheek approach to the update, according to the trade paper.

  1. Didn’t VH-1 (or one of the other able channels) have a reality competition, show a few years back, for picking the cast of the *NEW* Partridge Family show? I know the competiton completed and the individual contestants won their particular character roles… but whatever happened to the show they were auditioning for?!?!?

  2. For continuity, I hope they are smart enough to involve Larry Rosen, Producer of the series. Nobody knows the show like him.
