Officials at the Republican National Convention are attacking the media for questioning the credentials of vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, the Los Angeles Times reports. While some criticism of the media has been overblown, some reports have been half baked, the paper says, like ABC News’ story about Palin being a member of a party advocating that Alaska secede from the United States. Meanwhile, late-night comics are being careful with Palin’s daughter’s circumstances, mainly using the opportunity to poke fun at former Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards, the Associated Press reports.
