Despite the dearth of gay characters in scripted television, MediaWeek points out the continually rising number of gay on-air talent on reality series such as Bravo’s “Project Runway” and The CW’s “America’s Next Top Model.” According to the publication, these increases may be attributed to the higher disposable income of gay viewers and to an increasingly progressive society as a whole.
