Some in Media Fight Charges of Liberal Bias

Sep 5, 2008  •  Post A Comment

Republicans are on the attack, accusing the media of bias for its coverage of vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, the Los Angeles Times reports. Many news executives dismiss charges of bias as politics as usual, but some, including NBC News President Steve Capus, are going on the defensive. “These terms get thrown around in an awful cavalier way, and they’re incredibly damaging,” Capus told the paper. Republican critics say the news media’s coverage of the Alaskan governor has been slanted and sexist.

  1. We’re hearing an overwhelming amount of information about Pallin’s pregnant daughter, but almost nothing about Biden’s lobbyist sons and use of his position as Senator to the grown sons’ great advantage.
How blessed are we to have a balanced media!

  2. When the liberal biased media starts reporting the negative side (and entirely true side) of Obama then I will believe that they are not biased but until then they continue to prove themselves partisan and corrupt.

  3. Breakout your gasoline because between now and November 4Th, there will be too much BS to shovel.
Like we did in Vietnam, lo those many years ago, the forth coming mountains of crap will have to be burned. Just make sure you’re upwind.

  4. When you run on the fact that sex education should be taken out of schools and that abortion should be illegal even in the case of incest or rape, suddenly your teenage, unmarried daughter being pregnant and you being so happy that she “choose” to have the baby becomes a political issue.
If Obama picked someone with only a year and a half of a Governor’s mansion under their belt and the media questioned that person’s experience, I’m not sure that the republicans would claim that the media had a conservative slant. They would say that the news media was raising legitimate questions about the person running to be a heart beat away from the presidency.
Unlike Palin, who has been deciding who will finally get to interview her, Biden was on Meet the Press on Sunday and faced the questions about the lobbying/sons issue head on.
