A recent study from two economists at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business published in the Quarterly Journal of Economics suggests that TV may not have as negative of an effect on children and their development as previously believed, the Wall Street Journal reports. The presence of TV in children’s lives was especially beneficial to those growing up in non-English speaking homes, where those children did better in school, and even helped lower the fertility rate in Brazil, the newspaper says.
