Veteran actress Eileen Herlie, a longtime favorite on ABC’s “All My Children,” died on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 in New York City of complications from pneumonia, according to Entertainment Weekly. The native born Scot was 90 years old and had played Myrtle Fargate for 32 years on the soap, a beloved character who was like Erica Kane’s (Susan Lucci) second mother. Ms. Herlie’s death will likely be written into the show, EW says. She is survived by her brother, Alfred Herlihy, and her nieces and nephews.
