Viewers fascination with the current presidential election has been giving a huge bounce to TV shows covering it, including comedy shows, the New York Times reports. In addition to “Saturday Night Live,” with it’s popular sketches featuring Tina Fey as Sarah Palin, Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show With Jon Stewart” has also benefited from the attention to politics. The fake news show drew almost two million viewers on average during the month of September—its best so far. The head of ad sales for Comedy Central tells TelevisionWeek that ads in its political shows are “hot, hot, hot.”
