NBC is developing a new green-screen drama based on “Jason and the Argonauts” with Media Rights Capital, Daily Variety reports. The project, executive produced by Josh and Jonas Pate, has received a put pilot order after NBC won a bidding war with Fox, the trade paper says. Two other Argonaut projects are in the works at other studios. MRC has also recently received additional episode orders for ABC’s “The Goode Family” and Lifetime’s “Rita Rocks,” although its current Sunday night series on The CW have temporarily stopped production.

  1. Sounds interesting.
I have a question. I am familiar with a number of TV technical terms and have never heard the expression “green screen drama (or movie)”
    What processis being referred to?

  2. It means that a lot of the live action will be filmed in front of a green screen and the effects will be edited in via computer.

  3. Sanctuary on SCI FI Channel is a green-screen drama, one of the first full-length TV shows to be done this way, I believe.
Some of it works, some of it doesn’t – visually it’s pretty but I think even the best actors loses something when they aren’t really in the environment they’re supposed to be in.
