NBC’s Todd Sees Tenseness in GOP Ticket

Oct 23, 2008  •  Post A Comment

NBC News’ political director says that during the network’s interview with Republican candidates John McCain and Sarah Palin, he determined a “tenseness” between the running mates, tle Los Angeles Times reports. “There’s no chemistry,” Todd said during a disccusion with Chris Matthews on MSNBC. “They’re not comfortable with each other yet. The other thing about it is you can tell they know that they’re losing.” Bits of the interview aired Wednesday on NBC’s “Nightly News.” More will appear Thursday and Friday, the paper says.

  1. Of course they feel that they losing because the media has a darling and he is Obama. Nothing he does is ever challenged even his misstatements such as “I was against the war from the beginning”, he wasn’t a US Senator when the war was approved or voted upon or even when it began, he was still in the Illinois legislature. How about his actions along with Sen. Dodd to prevent Sen. McCain’s drive to stop the ill fated housing loans to unqualified individuals in 2005? There is a lot to see why the Republican candidates are frustrated and ill at ease with the media lest anything they say gets twisted into negatives and see that everything Obama says becomes scripture.

  3. Yes, it’s all the media’s fault, Bruce. It’s not because McCain and Palin are a losing ticket, with losing ideas who want to continue to take America down the wrong track. Actually, we left the track a long time ago and have been traveling in the gutter for almost 8 years. I wonder who did that?
No, you don’t get to blame Nancy Pelosi, she’s only been Speaker of the House for 1.5 years. Wasn’t Tom DeLay a bigwig Speaker of the House, raking in the dough, muck raking, and carrying on unethically for many years? How did we forget about him?
How about the lending institutions who were riding a corporate high and purposely sucked in unqualified individuals? Exactly who was it who approved those loans and why?
It’s time to stop the politics of divisiveness and look at the facts. Wasn’t it Reagan who said you can have your opinion but you can’t have your own facts? Wake up for goodness sake. Put country first for a change!

  4. The real point is that NBC is just a sore loser of a network. They weren’t first on Palin’s list of interviewers so they’re miffed. They had to wait 55 days. Boo hoo. How long have they waited to really investigate Ayers and other Obama associates? Still waiting. They trash Palin at the drop of a hat but ignore Biden’s multiple faux pas and all of Obama’s past.
They see no chemistry between Palin and McCain, but I see plenty of it. Maybe chemistry is in the eye of the beholder. NBC and it’s sister station MSNBC are so in the tank for Obama they can’t see straight anymore.

  5. The point is that, regardless of where your party sympathies lie, there’s no doubt that comments such as Todd’s are not “factual” in any reasonable interpretation of that term. It’s pure spin, and in the long run it just does more damage to the credibility of the mainstream media. And that’s not good for anybody.

  6. Hey Bruce…
I’ve never been in government in any capacity, (local or federal,) and I’ve been against the war from the beginning. What’s your point, other than you watch too much FOX News Channel propaganda/infotainment?
    Let’s all just agree…
Everything is ALWAYS the media’s fault.
It has nothing to do with any of us or any of our choices.
Holy Smokes! It’s no wonder there’s no accountability in our country any more…
Everything is ALWAYS somebody else’s fault.
