News Orgs Brace for Election Night Landslide

News organizations are scrambling to figure out ways to keep viewers watching presidential election returns if early returns show Sen. Barack Obama with a substantial lead over Sen. John McCain, Politico reports. Recent polls show Obama in the lead in the state of Virginia, a state no Democratic nominee has won since Lyndon Johnson in 1964. A Virginia win for Obama could mean the candidate could seal the deal hours before the last polling places close on the West Coast. “If enough of those states add up to 270 electoral votes, then the outcome is obvious,” said ABC News Senior VP Jeffrey Schneider.
