Saturday night’s World Series Game Three between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Tampa Bay Rays averaged 9.8 million viewers, one of the smallest audiences for the fall classic on record, Daily Variety reports, citing Nielsen preliminary data. The game suffered from rain delays and did not end until 1:45 a.m. EST Sunday. The first two games averaged 13.7 million viewers—down 20% from last year, the trade says. Preliminary ratings information for Sunday night’s Game 4 will be available Monday.

  1. MLB deserves everything they get concerning low ratings. It is quite evident they don’t care about the fans…..just the big bucks they are getting from Fox. They don’t care about kids who have to be in school the next day, nad the working class people who have to be in the office bright and early starting at 8 am. They just care about the money. Think about this MLB….if the kids can’t stay up to see the games, you are risking alienating the future fans of baseball who will find some other sport to support. Then where will you find the big money to support all those overpriced players who hit .124, or have a 9.80 era?
