Chip Reid has been named chief White House correspondent for CBS News, TVNewser reports. Reid, who joined CBS News in August 2007, most recently covered John McCain’s campaign. Reid takes over the position from Jim Axelrod, who has covered President Bush since 2006. Axelrod will move to New York as CBS News’ national correspondent, replacing Nancy Cordes, currently on maternity leave, who will become Capitol Hill correspondent when she returns.
