So far this fall, viewership of the Big Four broadcast networks is down 9% at a time when total TV viewing is up 2%, USA Today notes. Among the factors hurting the broadcasters are the residual effects of the Writers Guild of America strike, the presidential campaign and the increasing use of digital video recorders and online video, the paper says.
