The Department of Commerce says it’s running out of money for its coupon program offering discounts on the converter boxes needed to allow older sets to receive new digital television signals, TelevisionWeek reports. From Dec. 10 to Dec. 16, 227,714 coupons were being requested per day, a rate that would exhaust the $1.5 billion allotted to the program, officials say.
