Tony Fontana has returned as showrunner for the upcoming NBC drama “The Philanthropist,” Daily Variety reports. The two parted ways over creative differences, but Fontana will now return to take over David Eick’s place as he leaves to focus more on his upcoming “Battlestar Galactica” prequel “Caprica,” the trade says. Fontana originally left after experiencing some creative pushback from NBC, which wanted to more “escapism” while Fontana aimed for “grittier,” Variety says.
