SAG Moderates Pan Allen’s Overtures

Screen Actors Guild moderates who failed to oust national executive director Doug Allen panned a letter Allen sent Wednesday, which suggested suspending the strike authorization vote, the Los Angeles Times reports. Allen also recommended the 120,000 member union vote on the studios’ last offer, without a board recommendation to do so. “It’s an astonishing piece of cynical manipulation,” said Richard Masur, a New York board member and former SAG president. Still, SAG President Alan Rosenberg said he remains committed to the strike authorization vote if board members don’t accept Allen’s proposal to vote on the contract terms, the Hollywood Reporter says.
