‘90210’ Back for 2nd Season?

Jennie Garth may have broken the news that “90210” may come back for a second season on The CW, Hollyscoop.com reports. Garth told Hollyscoop, “It’s looking pretty good that we’re gonna get picked up for next year,” the Web site reports.

  1. Here’s the thing.
    90210 was already renewed a few weeks after it premiered because, let’s face it, The CW is a mismanaged mess of a network. They like short-term success which is why the show was an early renewal back in November. They’re already planning a Melrose Place spinoff because Dawn Ostroff has vivid memories of her thirtysomething years watching Fox? In the meantime, the male demographics have dropped, the urban market (once a keystone market for UPN) has dwindled (Everybody Hates Chris and The Game are likely on the outs), and their third-party deals haven’t exactly panned out like they want.
    Shows like Gossip Girls and 90210 are the future of the network because that’s what they want more of. There’s a Gossip Girl “prequel” set in the 80s also in the works. It’s moronic and should be considered a failure.
    Lesser men (and women) would have been fired by now.
