Are Costs Behind Studio Mergers?

The television networks are increasingly looking to their own studios for new series, a trend that appears to coincide with the latest wave of network and studio consolidation, the Hollywood Reporter says. Some industry executives view the change as part of industrywide cost-cutting to cope with the economic tough times, the trade paper says.
