Fallon Considered ‘Late Night’ in ’04

Jimmy Fallon, who succeeds Conan O’Brien next week with “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon,” had been approached by “Late Night” executive producer Lorne Michaels as early as 2004 about possibly replacing O’Brien, the Associated Press reports. Mr. Fallon, who says Mr. Michaels brought up the subject before Fallon left Michaels’ “Saturday Night Live,” will have Robert De Niro as his guest on his first show next week, the wire service says.
