Employees at media companies are facing layoffs and wage freezes as owners struggle with an economy in recession, an advertising market in decline and new digital competitors, the Associated Press reports. On Wednesday, Media General said it plans to save $9 million by getting its workers to take 10 unpaid days off by the end of the year.
