The FCC has pulled the broadcasting license for WYLE-TV in Florence, Ala., Broadcasting & Cable reports. Station owner ETC Communications pulled the station off the air in February 2007 because of operating costs, the publication said. In order to avoid having its license permanently revoked, the station needed to avoid being completely off the air for 12 months, but the FCC deemed that the station airing a test pattern for 24 hours on Feb. 3, 2008, did not count and the station’s license was canceled, B&C explains.
