General Electric, once thought to be considering selling its media business, is now finding the unit to be a valuable contributor as its finance unit struggles, the New York Times reports. Last year, when the company’s profit dropped 22%, NBC Universal’s profit rose 1 percent, the newspaper says. NBC Universal was “not being viewed as the black sheep anymore. It’s a key contributor of cash,” Sterne, Agee & Leach analyst Nicholas P. Heymann tells the publication.
