Nets Grumbling About Obama Speech

Another primetime speech by President Obama has the networks complaining about the impact the preemptions are having on their bottom lines, TelevisionWeek reports. “Every time the president disrupts primetime, the networks lose another couple million dollars,” one TV industry insider tells TVWeek. “In this economy, that’s the last thing we need.”

  1. Earth to TV Networks: The Teleprompter does not care how many millions of dollars you might lose. If your political news coverage was worthy of the name you might already know that.

  2. Ah, yes, the teleprompter. POTUS or TOTUS? Maybe he’ll find a spare moment to lead us out of this mess, if the NCAA Tourney doesn’t prove too large a distraction.

  3. Earth to D: Convincing the public is part of “leading us out of this mess.” Did you begrudge Bush his record number of vacation days? Maybe if he’d been paying attention we wouldn’t be in this mess.

  4. That said, I can’t believe he’s bumping prime again. Isn’t Leno enough? This guy’s ego is really getting in the way of doing the people’s business. He already bailed on his promise to cut earmarks. What’s next?
