Ashlee Simpson-Wentz has been tapped to play a lead in the new version of The CW’s “Melrose Place,” the Hollywood Reporter says. She’ll play a new resident named Violet, who recently moved to Los Angeles from a small town and is harboring a secret, the trade paper says.
