Battle Tightens for Russert’s Crown

Apr 20, 2009  •  Post A Comment

Since David Gregory took over for Tim Russert as moderator of “Meet the Press,” ABC’s “This Week” with George Stephanopoulos and CBS’ “Face the Nation” with Bob Schieffer have closed the ratings gap on the leader of the Sunday Morning Washington public affairs show pack, the Washington Post reports. “The guys we’re up against are good,” Gregory tells the paper. “I’m trying to bring as much passion as I can, and I hope viewers are seeing it.”

  1. Tim was interesting, honest and fun.
His entire wardrobe was worth less that Gregory’s tie.
Summing it up … Tim was not worried about what his bosses thought of his wardrobe or hair. He cared about the average viewer, which Meet The Press has lost sight of.

  2. Personally, I like Mr. Gregory better than Tim or Tom before him. The fact that he doesn’t care if they like him or not is great in honest journalism. This is a hard hitting show that throws a person’s words and deeds back into their faces. He doesn’t go after people who have lost people in a disaster and ask them how they feel (which is absolutely atrocious for any newscaster – even though it’s not part of any of the Sunday political shows.) He asks the questions journalists should be asking on all shows, especially during elections – we may have had a different outcome in the elections if journalists weren’t afraid to risk losing the Liberal credentials. Fortunately I can watch Fox News Sunday, Meet The Press, and George S. in a row. These three shows are similar in that they show both sides. Chris Matthews is the one who needs to be fired.
