‘Harper’s’ Is One Gory Island

CBS’ new show “Harper’s Island” pushes the limits for showing gore on TV, the Los Angeles Times says in a review. The splatter “seems almost intentionally gratuitous—a body cut in half with lingering shots of the victim’s entrails,” the Times says. “It doesn’t make the show any scarier (everyone knows it’s what you don’t see that makes a story truly frightening), just more shocking.” The Washington Post suggests the show should carry a warning label: “Not for the Squeamish.”
