NBC has bought an unusual front-page ad in Thursday’s Los Angeles Times to promote its new series “Southland,” TelevisionWeek reports. The ad, part of an extensive marketing campaign for the police drama, includes a box at the bottom of page one that looks like a story about a fictional L.A. police officer’s first day on the job, as well as a more traditional-looking display ad unit, TVWeek says.
