‘NewsHour’ Adds Intel as Sponsor

PBS’ “The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer” is adding Intel Corp. as a corporate sponsor, a much needed booster as the program had funding problems last year, MediaPost reports. Archer Daniels Midland ended its 14-year sponsorship in 2007, which reportedly brought as much as $7 million to a program with a budget of $26 million to $28 million, the Web site says. Intel’s nine-month sponsorship deal will fund segments on innovation in the economy, but Intel won’t provide editorial direction, MediaPost says.
