With the recession crimping budgets, reality shows are aiming to become even less expensive, the Associated Press reports. For instance, in the second season of “Paris Hilton’s My New BFF,” contestants are housed in a mansion that cost half of what the home used in the first season did, the news agency reports. And the winner of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” will win $20,000, a magazine photo shoot and a role in two ad campaigns, a far cry from the $1 million winnings for “Survivor,” the AP says.
