The broadcast networks are seeking to air low-cost shows aside the “tentpole” series such as “Lost” to help lower expenses and improve profits, Daily Variety reports. One way networks are achieving this is looking at international co-productions, something that most networks wouldn’t have considered buying a few years ago, the trade paper says. The eye toward the bottom line will become more apparent as TV executives build their fall 2009 schedules, the publication says.
