Gawker Media vet Owen Thomas has been tapped to serve as editorial director of digital initiatives for NBC in the Bay Area, Broadcasting & Cable reports. Thomas previously worked with Gawker’s Valleywag blog covering all things Silicon Valley and now will manage the local KNTV Web site, NBCBayArea.com, the trade publication says.
