WCBS-TV in New York has started an advertising sales push that retools print spots into TV commercials and tries to re-sell them to the advertisers, Broadcasting & Cable reports. The trade paper says the CBS-owned TV station tells clients about the retooled ads on sales calls, and tells them the ads will run if they sign up. “New business is such an important part of the business. I said, ‘What can we do to get it to the next level?'” station general manager Peter Dunn tells the publication.
