‘As the World Turns’ Could Follow ‘Guiding Light’ Off the Air

Daytime soap “As The World Turns” is having ratings problems and could be next on the CBS hit list, the New York Post reports.

Like “Guiding Light,” which goes off the air in September and will be replaced by a remake of “Let’s Make a Deal,” “As the World Turns” “is also having ratings challenges,” CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler told the paper. “It is hard to say (if it is safe).” She said the network is monitoring the situation.

“World” has been on the air since 1956.

  1. I will NOT watch let’s make a deal… save guiding light

  2. Ever since Guiding Light started shooting close ups on the actors, it seems thats what hey are mostly focused on and not the story line. I used to watch all the time till you guys started shooting these close ups. It’s so hard to focus on the story that I just stopped watching.

  3. As the world turns better not go off the aire!!! It is the best soap opera on television.

  4. I agree. I’m not sure what I will do with my day. I have been wacthing since I was a little girl with my mother. It will be like a death in my family.

  5. It’s about time As The World Turns goes off the air. I have been sick of all the murders on that show every time you turn around. And WHAT A FRUMP THE FARM WOMAN TURNED INTO!!!
    GOODBYE GRANNIE AND GOOD RIDDANCE!
