“Ridealong”, a one hour cop drama from the creator of “The Shield,” Shawn Ryan, has received a pilot order from Fox, reports Daily Variety.
The show is set to focus on three groups of police officers, ranging from uniform cops to the female police chief.
Ryan, who will executive produce the show for 20th Century Fox TV, plans to shoot in Chicago.
"When I pitched it to the people at Fox, (Chicago was) the first character I described," said Ryan. "It’s a gorgeous town and is the most interesting architectural city in America.”
“Ridealong” will largely take place on the streets and feature a proud Polish-American cop. It will also depict part of Chicago’s underworld and history of shady politics.
"I don’t think it will be as gritty a world as ‘The Shield’ was, but it will feel authentic," said Ryan.
