Recession Kills off Lucrative Guesting Fees for Talking Heads

On-air contributors who used to command as much as $5,000 for an appearance on network morning shows are now mostly being paid in a different currency: free exposure for their own personal brands, reports Broadcasting & Cable.

The economic contraction has killed off even the much lower appearance fees, agents say, as networks have realized that their guests need them as much as they need the guests.
