The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has announced the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards juried awards winners.
The juried categories are Outstanding Costumes for a Variety/Music Program or Special and Individual Achievement in Animation. There are no nominations in juried award categories; instead, any entries that are considered deserving of an Emmy are honored.
“So You Think You Can Dance” (Fox) costume designer Soyon An was recognized in the Outstanding Costumes for a Variety/Music Program or Special category.
Winners in the Individual Achievement in Animation category were Shigemi Ikeda, art director for “Afro Samurai: Resurrection” (Spike TV); Joe Binggeli, background painter for the series “Chowder” (Cartoon Network); Chris Roszak, background painter for “The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack” (Cartoon Network);Andy Suriano, character designer for the special “Underfist: Halloween Bash” (Cartoon Network); Elizabeth Harvatine, character animator for the series “Moral Orel” (Cartoon Network); and Joshua A. Jennings, character animator for the series “Robot Chicken” (Cartoon Network).
The juried awards will be presented during the 2009 Creative Arts Emmy Awards at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sept. 12.
