Cast Shake-Up in Store for ‘Law & Order: Criminal Intent’

The ninth season will see a shake-up at USA Network’s “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” as Vincent D’Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe and Eric Bogosian are phased out, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter’s Showbiz411blog.

Jeff Goldblum, who joined the cast last year, and his new partner, played by Saffron Burrows, will be the lead detectives in the series, once the changes are complete. D’Onofrio and Erbe have been on the show since it began in 2001.

  1. This is disapointing. Vincent D’Onofrio is the best character on the show. I love Goldblum, too, but it will be sad to see Vincent leave.

  2. This is more of GE/NBC/USA asking for concessions from the talent…it’s a safe bet that D’Onofrio Erbe & Bogosian hit their limit on just how much they wanted to put up with in the way of network interference.
Zero worries for the actors (in fact for anyone who actually works on the show) they’ve all got talent. NBC & USA’s prospects look iffy though.

  3. Vincent D’Onofrio’s character, Det. Goren, is certainly one of the most complicated and deeply crafted seen on TV, cable or broadcast. One is almost led to believe that the actor “is” the character.
Although the character is an “acquired” taste, it will certainly be a loss to viewers, but the previous post is probably right, NBC probably wanted to squeeze the budget again. But…who knows, Vince and Kathryn may have had enough and want to go on to other roles…or just kick back.

  4. This is very disappointing news. Vincent D’Onofrio’s character was one of the best (and most complex) characters on TV.
I’m sure Jeff Goldblum will do a great job. I just hate to see Vincent leave. I watch L&O:CI on a daily basis. Thanks, USA Network!

  5. Please bring back Goren and Eames!

  6. Jeff Goldblum is awesome – thanks USA network!!!
