FCC’s McDowell Says FCC Should Speed Up Indecency Challenges

Sep 25, 2009  •  Post A Comment

Republican FCC Commissioner Robert McDowell said the FCC should begin to clear out its backlog of 1.3 million indecency complaints, despite ongoing court appeals in its finding of indecency against Fox, reports B&C.

Speaking to an audience of National Religious Broadcasters, McDowell said the FCC “should not delay adjudicating out the mountain of indecency complaints because we are facing appeals."

Despite perhaps another two years of legal wrangling in the Fox case, he said, the April Supreme Court ruling that upheld the FCC’s actions should be enough legal validation to begin moving on the backlog.
