Producers of NBC’s upcoming drama “Parenthood” have approached Oscar winner Helen Hunt about taking over the role that was to have been played by Maura Tierney, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Tierney pulled out last week to focus on her treatment for breast cancer.

Hunt, who starred in NBC’s “Mad About You” from 1992-97, is said to be considering the offer to return to series work after years doing features, including her Oscar-winning turn in "As Good As It Gets."
