Mike Shaw, the president of sales and marketing at ABC since 2000, is leaving his day-to-day responsibilities by the end of the year, the company said.
He’ll then become a strategic advisor for Sales and Marketing Strategy for the company, continuing to report to Anne Sweeney, co-chair, Disney Media Networks and president, Disney/ABC Television Group.
He said in a statement that he’s leaving “in order to pursue a number of personal goals.”
In a statement, Sweeney said, “While we’re sorry that he’s decided to step back from the day-to-day, we’re thrilled that he’s left us with such an amazing team and that he’ll remain involved as a strategic advisor.”
Shaw was a strong proponent of the industry’s use of the commercial ratings system and key player in its adoption of live-plus-3-day (C3) ratings.
The company said a replacement will named in the near future.
