General Electric reached a tentative deal with Vivendi to buy Vivendi’s 20 percent stake in NBC Universal for $5.8 billion, The New York Times reports.
The tentative agreement removes one more obstacle to Comcast acquiring a controlling stake in NBCU, under a $30 billion deal that Comcast and GE have already been hammering out.
There’s a tentative plan to announce that deal on Thursday, the Times says.
