NBC to Order 18 Pilots, the Most Since 2003

Jan 6, 2010  •  Post A Comment

NBC will produce 18 pilots for the 2010-11 season, the most since 2003, reports BNET Media.

Catherine Taylor of BNET makes the case that by ordering so many pilots —10 dramas and eight comedies — the network seems to be leaving itself some options in case it decides to end its 10 p.m. “Jay Leno Show” strip.

But Angela Bromstad, NBC president of primetime entertainment, told Bloomberg over the holidays that the pilots are intended for 8-10 p.m.: “We have so many holes that we have to essentially rebuild the schedule. Not having the additional five hours has certainly relieved some of the pressure.”

  1. I JUST WISH NBC WOULD JUST GIVE UP ALREADY WE WOULD NOT MISS THEM AT ALL THEY HAVE NOT GOT OR BOUGHT 1 GOOD THING IN AT LEAST 15 YEARS!!

  2. Well, I can think of five weekly prime-time hours that the Peacock needs to fill A.S.A.P. beginning each night at Ten PM.
Jay, it’s time to go to the garage and play with your cars. Sorry, you’re a great guy, you did a wonderful job after Johnny at 11:35, but this has not worked.
The affiliates are not happy…Hello, you folks at 30 Rock…Pull the plug.

  3. Both of you are right.
It’s a shame since some other networks are making good recreating old shows

  4. Leno was a bad decision. Perhaps if he is limited to two or three nights a week, he would be more topical, and give NBC better 10 pm options. It sickens me to see how this once glorious network has fallen.

  5. excellent idea, smedly!
