Walter Koenig has told TMZ why he and his wife decided to walk away from an appearance on "Larry King Live" on Wednesday night, Feb. 24th.

Koenig, who played Chekov on the original "Star Trek" series, was scheduled to appear on the show to make a plea that his missing son, actor Andrew Koenig, 41, contact his parents if he can.

According to TMZ, "Andrew Koenig’s parents claim they bailed on Larry King last night because they felt the show was being ‘disrespectful’ by pushing back their live interview several times on last night’s show."

Furthermore, TMZ said, according to well-placed sources, "The Koenigs were told they were supposed to go live at 6:30 PM PST — but the interview was pushed back after [King] decided to [first] cover the breaking SeaWorld whale tragedy."

Walter Koenig told TMZ that when it was finally time for he and his wife to go on the show they didn’t feel there was "enough time to do credit to what we had to say." He added that "We felt it was disrespectful."

The interview was to have been live, via satellite, from the Koenig’s hotel room in Vancouver. When they decided not to appear on the show they asked the crew to leave the hotel room, which the crew did.

  1. Everyone seems to have forgotten that Walter Koenig played Alfred Bester in Babylon 5, which is one of the top 3 Sci-Fi TV series ever.

  2. I was with Larry when Carrie (Many Sex Tapes) Prejean was an idiot on his show; but I agree with the Koenigs. He was using them as filler. Disrespectful no matter who they are.

  3. Walter and his wife and their daughter deserve respect and support at this time. How many people have had a upstanding quiet and repectful private life like the Koenings? Not very many celbrities these days. Here this man and his beautiful family have lived a quiet clean decent life and look how they had to come into the spotlight. That is wrong on many levels to disrespect this family this way. God Bless the Koenigs and may Andrew be returned to them alive and well,

  4. His son is missing who cares how long it takes, a couple minutes to ask for anyones help is just as good as none!!
