Cowell: Howard Stern Has NOT Been Approached to do ‘Idol’; Also, Cowell Says Look for a Woman to Win Show This Season

Simon Cowell said in a press conference call that while Howard Stern clearly wants a job judging “American Idol,” he doubts anyone has really asked the shock jock about taking on the post, TheWrap reports.

"I’m fairly certain there hasn’t been an approach at any time for Howard to do this show," Cowell said, adding that his replacement needs music business experience, either as a performer, executive or manager, and Stern “doesn’t fit any of those criterion."

Cowell also dismissed reports that he and Ellen DeGeneres aren’t getting along.

Meanwhile, the Associated Press reports that, after the show’s run of male winners, Cowell said there’s “definitely a better chance of a girl winning the show this year, certainly, than last year."
