Patti LaBelle knows a things or two about vocalists and she doesn’t think all the judges on Fox’s "American Idol" are qualified to assess singing, according to an article in USA Today.
LaBelle wouldn’t give specifics on which judge or judges she had a problem with, but said that some judges shouldn’t be on the show.
If LaBelle criticism is aimed toward non-pro judge Ellen DeGeneres, as it seems to be–all the other judges are connected to the music industry–it should be noted that DeGeneres has been very upfront that she is judging the singers as a fan and that she has no technical expertise in music.
LaBelle also contended that the criticism of the singers has been too mean.
LaBelle is the voice behind hits like "Lady Marmalade," and "On My Own," a duet she sang with Michael McDonald.
