TMZ was sued for broadcasting an interview with Michael Jackson’s ex-wife after the singer’s death, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
The interview was with Debbie Rowe.
The lawsuit was filed in California District Court by F. Marc Schaffel Prods., which claimed to own the interview from 2003. Portions of it aired then but other parts didn’t until TMZ ran them last year after Jackson’s death.
The plaintiff claimed the interview contained valuable footage that was stolen and confidential.
The footage at one point was in the hands of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff and TMZ at one point claimed that it got the footage from them, but later said its source was confidential, according to THR.
The article says that last month Schaffel also sued Fox News for airing the interview.
